Get to know the founders!

In this age of digital connectivity, social media has transformed the way we communicate, connect, and share our stories. Founded by two visionary artists, who possess an undeniable passion for aesthetic presentation, Paper Play stands at the forefront of this digital revolution. Through their keen eye for design and technical expertise, they have crafted an agency that not only delivers unparalleled social media solutions but also taps into the powerful essence of brand empathy.

You can usually find them running around the set supervising shoots for their clients, or calmly sipping coffee as they finalise deals and doing other important and mysterious things that only business owners are privy to! In this interview, Raksha and Mrudula share their thoughts on social media marketing, the best part of being a founder, and some valuable lessons they’ve learned along the journey.

Q: What is the best part about social media marketing? What initially attracted you towards social media marketing?

Raksha: The dynamism of consumer behaviour in the digital space is intriguing. To create content that captures the target audience and is relevant, strategic, and intended became a challenge we enjoyed.

Mrudula: For me, it was the aesthetics! The artistic ideas and magic that can be created drew me towards social media marketing. I was also fascinated by how much influence social media can have on consumers.

Q: What is the best part of your job as a founder/co-founder?

Mrudula: Taking forward a company, leading it in whatever pace possible, and helping my team create their best work possible are the best things about my job.

Raksha: We get to learn and interact with people beyond what we imagined. We get the opportunity to surround ourselves with other entrepreneurs and interact with businesses with inspiring stories.

Q: Which is your favourite social media platform?

Raksha: Instagram! This platform offers itself as a place where we can explore various content formats, create beautiful visuals, strategize content, and explore the endless capabilities of the app itself.

Mrudula: For me, it is definitely Pinterest! I can get lost for hours on that app!

Q: What is your favorite tool that makes your work easy?

Mrudula: Inshot definitely makes my life easier!

Raksha: Canva! Its capabilities are endless. We can create professional and aesthetic documents so quickly.

Q: What is an important lesson that you have learned over the years as a founder/co-founder of Paper Play?

Mrudula: Navigating the fine line between working on what our clients want and asserting what their brands need.

Raksha: The biggest lesson learned is that there is just so much more to learn. There is no such thing as completion when it comes to knowledge.

Q: What do you think it is about you two that makes working with each other so smooth?

Raksha: We are both photocopies of each other in terms of our belief system and ethos. At the same time, we bring to the table our own skill sets and perspectives, making it a blend one can only dream of!

Q: What is your advice to small business owners that are doing it all?

Mrudula: Trust the process, and your gut instinct! Committing to a system that works for you and slowly building a team with discipline and trust can help you go a long way!

Raksha: Make mistakes! Analyse your takeaways, and every mistake is just making your business decisions better.
